USCIS No Longer Accepting Combined Filing Fee Checks

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS ) has clarified that they will no longer accept checks combining all fees for I-129 filings, and that separate checks for each fee may be submitted.

Many I-129 filings, such as those for H-1Bs and L-1s, require a $500.00 Fraud Detection and Prevention Fee in addition to the base filing fee ($460.00 at this writing).  The H-1B also requires an “Education” or “ACWIA” fee – $750 for companies with 25 or fewer employees, doubling to $1,500.00 for companies with 26 or more employees.  Many I-129 filings allow payment of an additional $2,500.00 fee for “premium processing” (accelerated adjudication and response).

These fees must now be presented in separate checks for each fee, rather than a combined check inclusive of two or more of the fees.
