USCIS extends office closings to April 7, 2020

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it is extending the closure of District Offices and Application Support Centers for all in-person appointments. Under current guidance, USCIS offices would reopen for permanent residence and naturalization interviews as well as biometrics appointments on April 7.

The agency had announced the closures originally on March 18, 2020, effective the next day, to last through the end of March with all appointments already scheduled for that period to be cancelled and rescheduled.

The new USCIS announcement extends the closures – and the cancellations of already-scheduled appointments – for an additional week. We think it likely that the closures will again be extended as we near the end of the additional closure period.
