USCIS announces online Biometrics Appointment Rescheduling Tool

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the creation of an online tool to request rescheduling of Biometrics appointments,  These appointments are required for several types of filings to capture a digital image and fingerprints of an applicant or beneficiary in the event that none are available to USCIS from a sufficiently recent entry to the US, or if the image/fingerprints previously captured are for some reason unusable.

Previously, this kind of rescheduling required a call to the customer service line or a hard copy letter requesting the change in appointment.

The new system requires users to be logged in to a USCIS account connected to the case (it can be used even if the case wasn’t filed online).  It can be used by an attorney or representative as well as the individual.

The new system can’t be used, however, if the appointment is too near (within the next 12 hours), past already, or if it’s a second or subsequent request to reschedule.
