Trials Planned for Naturalization Test Updates

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced plans to conduct a trial for updates to the current naturalization test.  Rather than a sudden implementation of new or additional questions in the active test administered to applicants as happened under the last administration, USCIS will instead engage with community-based organizations who help prepare individuals for these tests to seek volunteers to take the new test elements on a trial bases, and only after considering results of these trials consider implementing changes to the test in active use with naturalization applicants.

The proposed changes to be tested as part of the trial include a change in format and questions for the civic portion of the test, as well as a potential new spoken English portion of the test.
