Revocation of COVID Travel Ban, With Likely Immediate Reinstatement

In its final days, the current administration issued an order withdrawing its own COVID-related travel bans for those who have been in the Schengen area of Europe, the UK, Ireland, and Brazil in the 14 days before attempting to travel to the US.  This order goes into effect on January 26 – after the Biden inauguration.

The ban will likely be immediately re-implemented by the new administration when it takes office ahead of the effective date, and so this action is unlikely to cause any change in the current circumstances with regard to travel to the US from these areas.
