Do the New Executive Orders Affect Applications and Petitions Pending with USCIS?

USCIS has confirmed that the Presidential executive orders released last week do NOT have any effect on petitions and applications currently pending with USCIS. This includes I-485 Adjustment of Status petitions, affirmative asylum cases (those filed with USCIS to claim asylum, as opposed to those filed in immigration court as a defense to removal), refugee/asylee relative petitions, and presumably naturalization petitions filed by people from the seven countries involved in the travel ban.
This announcement came in a February 2 memo released by USCIS Acting Director Lori Scialabba.
